Fanny is a name in many countries, might mean other things too but in Scotland it's also used as a slang term. It is often used to describe someone being an idiot, silly or messing about. Imagine someone is arsing about, you could say they are fannying about. It is also a term often used amongst friends and can have connotations of endearment. The Scottish Drinks company, Irn Bru, has used the word fanny in many of their very successful adverts.
