Cone

Cone is a hand-thrown stoneware plate inspired by Glasgow’s most iconic symbol: the traffic cone. Set against a deep black rim, the bold orange-and-white form sits at the centre of the composition, instantly recognisable and unmistakably local. Fragmented, earth-toned sections radiate outward, referencing the surrounding cityscape and the worn textures of stone, pavement, and weathered infrastructure.

Dark inlaid lines fracture the surface like street maps or fault lines, grounding the humour of the motif in a sense of place and history. By elevating a familiar act of civic mischief into ceramic form, Cone celebrates Glasgow’s wit, resilience, and shared cultural language—transforming a fleeting urban gesture into a lasting object.
